Our Story Heading South.png

In 2018, Kelsey Stone and Alex Boogren partnered to establish the Leander, TX based land development outfit, Heading South. The firm is a full-service developer with experience and in-house capabilities spanning acquisitions, development, entitlements, and construction.

By leveraging Texas’ unique market position for sustained growth and stability, strong sourcing capabilities, solid industry relationships, thorough due diligence, detailed financial analysis, and efficient execution, Heading South capitalizes on purposely evolving in the ever-changing real estate market and remaining flexible about our methods, but never about the goal.

Kelsey Stone co-founded Heading South, and directs all operations for the firm. Kelsey champions the firm’s pre-development efforts, such as securing entitlements, working with local jurisdictions, overseeing the consultants engaged for each project, and serves as project manager for each development. Additionally, she manages the accounting, reporting, and day-to-day operations of the firm. Before starting Heading South, Kelsey was a Commercial Property Manager in Atlanta where she oversaw a 1.3 million-square-foot Class A portfolio of primarily grocery-anchored shopping centers. Kelsey served on Leander's 2020 Comprehensive Plan Committee and currently serves on the Williamson County TIRZ Board. Kelsey graduated from Tarleton State University in 2013 with a BBA degree in Finance.

Alex Boogren co-founded Heading South, and heads up acquisitions and development for the firm. Alex is responsible for sourcing, underwriting, structuring, and obtaining financing for projects, as well as its clients. Prior to starting these companies, Alex was an Associate at JLL's Hotels and Hospitality Group in Atlanta where he assisted in the disposition of more than 15,000 hotel rooms totaling over $1 billion. Notable transactions he was directly involved in include the Hyatt Place Charlotte Downtown for $40.85 million and the six-property Carolinas Marriott Select Service Portfolio for $85.25 million. Alex graduated summa cum laude from Tarleton State University in 2013, with a BBA degree in Finance.
